In response to another forum comment on how religion is antiquated and designed to control populations: 

"...the Christian religion has nothing to do with control my friend. In fact, it is just the opposite, it is about surrendering all to God."

And what exactly does God do once you surrender to Him?  Does He not control you with His rules and commandments?  The opposite of control might well be "empowerment".  Empowerment has nothing to do with blindly following the counter-intuitive tenets of religion.  "Surrendering" is allowing yourself to be controlled.
